A
Memo to all Masons of Pictou Co. District
It is difficult to believe that my term as DDGM has passed the 6 months period. To me it has been most gratifying and a Masonic fulfillment that I never dreamed possible. Thanks to you, your support, your participation and patience, and ideas which are coming to fruition. Much has been accomplished but much remains to be done. Ladies Night, formation of a District Association, New Years Levee, upcoming Curling events, Bowling tournaments, weekly breakfast gatherings etc. The Scholarship presentation (Curren Lodge # 68 has joined for 2007). It was an honour for me to recognize the deserving Brothers who received pins, medals, bars and certificates. The numerous visitations of all of the Lodges in our district plus Lodges outside of our district.
Our first Committee meeting will be held on February 10-07 at the St. Cinnamon Coffee Shop to discuss the formation of the Family Fun Day chaired by Bro. David MacIvor.
A project which is long overdue and beneficial to our Masonic Order. The addition of Master Masons and Concurrant Lodges joining the Shriners for the Westville parade being held July 1, 2007. Western Star Lodge # 50 has been requested to host the Masonic Group after the parade.
The last Potentate from Pictou Co. was Illustrious Sir Roy Hale and after 28 years Pictou Co. is privileged to have another Noble run for Potentate. To this end we have a total of 15 or more Potentates from other Districts, Provinces and States participating in the special events taking place in Pictou Co. this year.
The passing of many of our Brothers to the Celestial Home above has cast a shadow over many Lodges but we must move on, they would expect no less from all of us.
May 2007 bring peace and happiness to all of you.
Fraternally from a grateful
District Deputy Grand Master Rt. Wor. Brother Olaf Grosvold
CC: Most Worshipful Grand Master Roger Ellis Eisner
My appreciation has no limits for all the support from yourself and Grand Lodge Officers and I thank you.
A message to the residents young and not so young from the President of the Pictou Co. Shrine Club, Olaf Grosvold.
In the year 2007 Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island will be honored by our new Potentate – Jim Mitchell and his Lady Margaret, with his expertise in organized major events, all citizens will note an upswing in community and business activities. Jim is a stickler for detail, a great visitor to the sick, elderly and shut-ins, a born leader and our Club Members fully support our Potentate to be and anxiously await his programs so we may share and support them.
